How to sync your transactions with Xero

Learn how to upload your transactions to Xero as Journal Entries

You can sync your transactions as journal entries to Xero using the direct integration available on Request Accounting.

To categorize your transactions before syncing, use the Chart of Accounts that Request Accounting imports from Xero when you connect your Xero account to your Request Accounting team.

Please note that all asset movements with a fiat value of less than 1 cent will not be uploaded.

To Connect your Xero Account to Request Accounting, please follow the steps below:

  1. Navigate to Accounting → Integrations → Xero

  2. Click on Connect. You will be prompted to connect your Xero account with Request Accounting, and Request Accounting will import your Chart of Accounts (CoA).

  3. You can view the imported Chart of Accounts by clicking on View Accounts. Request Accounting only imports your Posting Accounts. If you notice any of your COA missing, please ensure that they’re not non-posting accounts.

  4. Please ensure that you categorize your transactions using accounts that are not Locked or System accounts. Learn more about System and Locked accounts here.

  5. Once you’re done categorizing your transactions by assigning them the right Debit and Credit Accounts, Request Accounting will allow you to upload your transactions to Xero.

  6. To upload your transactions, select the concerned wallet and click on Upload. You can upload all the transactions in the wallet, or upload transactions from a custom date range.

  7. Request Accounting will verify if all your transactions have been categorized, and if it passes our checks, you will be allowed to upload your transactions to Xero. Additionally, you can upload your Realized Gains and Losses to Xero as well.

  8. When clicking Upload, the sync status changes to Synchronizing Transactions. Once it changes to Connected, you can view your transactions in Xero as Journal Entries. Please be sure to post these journal entries so you can view your updated balance sheet and income statements.

  9. You can also aggregate your transactions by day, week, or month to view your journal entries on Xero in an organized manner.

  10. Only journal entries in the draft state can be edited through Request Accounting. Once posted, please void the journal entry before synchronizing the wallet again to prevent duplication.
