Assigning Contact Types
Contact types help you automatically categorize transactions based on who you're paying. Instead of manually categorizing each payment, you can set up rules that work automatically.
Imagine you have 100 employees, 25 contractors, and 40 vendors in your contact list. Every time you send payments, you want to categorize these transactions differently; employee salaries, contractor fees, vendor expenses, etc.
Without contact types, you'd need to manually categorize every single transaction or constantly update your automation rules whenever you add new contacts. This becomes time-consuming and error-prone as your business grows.
Contact types solve this by letting you:
Group contacts by their role: When you create a new contact, simply assign them a contact type (like "Contractor," "Vendor," or "Employee"). You can even assign multiple types to one contact.
Set up automatic rules: Create rules like "If Receiver Contact Type is Contractor, categorize the transaction as Contractor Expenses."
Scale effortlessly: Add new contractors? Just assign them the "Contractor" type, and your existing rules will automatically categorize all payments to them correctly.
This eliminates repetitive work and ensures consistent categorization as your contact base grows.
