What are the bookkeeping implications of doing business in stablecoins?

Stablecoins are normally pegged to a currency such as USD or EUR, so your books stay simple: a 100 USDC payment is worth about $100. A few things still matter for bookkeeping:

  • The fiat value at the time of each payment. Your accountant will usually need the amount in your reporting currency on the transaction date. Request Finance logs this automatically for you.

  • Keep a record of every payment. This includes the amount, date, counterparty, and any network fees. Request Finance keeps a record of each payment.

  • Treatment varies by country. Some jurisdictions treat stablecoins like cash, others like digital assets, so check with your accountant.

You can view these values in your dashboard, export a PDF of any payable or receivable, or download a CSV of the full list. If you use the Request Business Account, you can also download a clean PDF statement. Forward any of these to your accountant.
