When you make a card payment with your Request Finance card, the payment may first appear as pre-authorized.
A pre-authorized payment means the merchant has temporarily reserved the amount, but has not yet fully claimed the funds. This is a common and standard step in card payments.
What happens next?
After pre-authorization, one of the following will happen:
The payment is completed: The merchant claims the funds and the payment is finalized. The status will update automatically.
The payment is canceled: If the merchant does not claim the funds, the pre-authorization is released and the reserved amount becomes available again.
This usually happens within a few days, depending on the merchant. You can see the date and time until which funds have to be claimed before they're released on each pre-authorized payment in your Request Finance account.
